With the release of their first full length album “Tiny Heaven” in April of 2007, Jungol (formerly known as Liquid Jungle) has clearly shown that they have something original to offer. As founding members of Jungol, twin brothers Josh and Graham Yoder have inhabited the Atlanta rock scene with various ensembles since the age of sixteen. Since acquiring veteran Atlanta drummer Jason Monseur in 2003, and in 2005 multi-instrumentalist Zack Varner the quartet has been going strong.
With a flourishing Atlanta audience, Jungol also delivers dynamic and compelling live shows to fast expanding crowds throughout the Southeast. They have also toured up the east coast and out to the west coast. The charismatic frontman Josh Yoder thumps a funky bass while also singing an engaging lead vocal. Graham Yoder’s lead guitar guides the band through quirky riffs, serves as the gritty marrow during heavier episodes, and soars with elegant soul over the ensemble as a soloist. Zack Varner enhances the sonic palate with passionate organ playing, graceful piano work, sings colorful backup harmonies, will occasionally take the lead vocal and often drops his guitar to play a mean sax solo. Jason Monseur’s drumming is tribal and thunderous, funky and progressive, and lends itself well to the band’s heavier, more progressive qualities. He is also the perfect backbone for the more subtle and tuneful material. Sporadically during a set, songs will evolve into experimental and improvisational departures, but at the core of Jungol lies imaginative, thoughtfully composed rock music. They may be abrasively intense one moment and ethereally haunting the next, but Jungol has a style of its own and shows the ability to penetrate a wide variety of audiences.
