Promotion

Promoting your music is one of the hardest things for the DIY artist.

With the current surge of social media and other web technologies, spreading the word about your music is becoming much easier and we intend on sharing all of our secrets for you here.

This year we had the honor of being asked to participate in the Atlanta Music Bloggers Roundtable discussion.

The gist is that 10 music writers discuss 2011 music with a week long roundtable. Each day two blogs will host a topic, and all the writers will have their answers displayed on that blog.

Last years roundtable was a great event, it turned me on to some new music writers. Any time there is a chance for collaboration in the music space, I am interested, so being ask to be a part of this is extra special.

This year has writers from Atlanta’s A-List, BeAtlanta, Hijacking Music, I’m a Bear Etc, Latest Disgrace, Little Advances, Ohm Park, Paste, Promising Chord, and Wholly Roller.

Starting on Monday, December 19 we will post two categories per day until Friday, December 23.

We will discuss ten topics spanning from your typical “best of” categories about albums and shows, to most underrated acts in Atlanta, and even a free for all category discussing our local and national obsessions.

To boot, we are also putting together a show at The Earl to showcase some of this years talent.

Little Tybee, New Animal, Spirits and The Melchizedek Children, and Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun will be at The EARL on Wednesday, December 21 for a special Atlanta Music Writers Roundtable show. Each of these bands released full-length albums in 2011 that left lasting impressions on the Atlanta music community.

Tomorrow night, Friday June 3rd, Kai Lin Art Gallery is having their 16th exhibition of DREAMSCAPE featuring four local Atlanta contemporary artists.

Some of the Hijacking Music crew are going to be swinging through to check this out and you should too.

We’ve worked with this gallery in the past for a fund raising event they hosted and saw some amazing pieces.

“Wallace Duvall, Adam Wellborn, Greg Noblin, and Janie Stamm.

Each of these artist present their own interpretation of ethereal, ephemeral, explosive dreams.

These original works of art represent a wide spectrum of diverse processes from acrylic to… oil, mixed media to resin, photography to etching.”
